The roughly 2,300-acre “Forked Lightning Ranch” is near Pecos, about 25 miles outside Santa Fe. The property’s 9,585-square foot adobe home was built in the traditional architectural style of the area, Mr. Swan said, with antique doors and beams made of reclaimed wood. With six bedrooms and five bathrooms, it has a 20- by 60-foot outdoor swimming pool, and an organic vegetable and herb garden.
The ranch houses an equestrian facility with 12 stalls, as well as riding trails and paddocks. And in true Jane Fonda fashion—her popular workout videos helped launch the 1980s aerobics craze—the property also has a gym with a mirrored wall and rubber mat flooring.
Much of the home’s art and furniture is for sale, Mr. Swan said, although those purchases will be negotiated separately from the sale of the property.
The property has a 2,125-square-foot guest house, nicknamed the “Hacienda,” with five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a patio. There’s also a 3,409-square-foot, two-bedroom log house on the property. Both are older homes, which Ms. Fonda renovated, Mr. Swan said.
The Oscar-winning actress, who loves horseback riding and fishing, purchased the ranch in 2000 after separating from then-husband Ted Turner. Around 2002 she built a house on the banks of the Pecos River, which runs for about 3 1/2 miles within the property, Mr. Swan said.
In a statement, Ms. Fonda, 76, said the ranch “has been a sanctuary and a place of great joy and recreation for me and my family.” She is selling because “many changes have occurred in my life since 2000 and I am no longer able to spend as much time on the ranch as I once was.” She also has a home in Los Angeles, Mr. Swan said, and has a busy travel schedule.
Ms. Fonda, who appears in the forthcoming film “This Is Where I Leave You,” recently earned an Emmy nomination for her role on HBO’s “The Newsroom.”
