Bud Love Wildlife Habitat Management Area is a 7,900-acre winter habitat for big-game species.  Located six miles northwest of Buffalo, Wyoming, it is a great place to view wildlife and enjoy nature.

Bud Love offers a safe haven for all animals that choose to winter within its boundaries.  Although hunting is permitted at certain times of the year, the area is closed from January 1st through May 14th  to offer protection to wildlife and their habitat.

Numerous species of animals frequent Bud Love including elk, mule deer, pronghorns, rabbits, black bears and mountain lions.  Birds ‒ blue and ruffed grouse, wild turkey, pheasant as well as Hungarian partridge, also find habitat in the area.  Fish are in high supply with brook and rainbow trout bustling in the North Fork of Sayles Creek and in many of the man-made ponds.  The waters are managed and restocked each year by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

The diverse habitat ranges in elevation from 5,500 to 7,000 feet and features steep canyon walls that tower above Rock and Sayles creeks. Teeming with Curlleaf mountain mahogany, pine, fir and more than 300 acres of grassy meadows, the management area is able to support many types of animal populations.

Hikers, photographers, picnickers, fishermen and hunters can take advantage of the recreational opportunities available at Bud Love.  Camping is also available, but is restricted to within 100 yards of the main entrance gate in the designated campground.
