Growing up on a wheat and horse farm in Kansas taught me the value of hard work, straight talk, and integrity. I didn’t realize how lucky I was to have an agricultural upbringing. I loved farming and livestock but always dreamed of the mountains and becoming an outdoorsman. In 1988, I moved to Bozeman, Montana, and Montana State University to finish college and pursue fly fishing and bird hunting. These passions still occupy my free time when I’m not with my wife and two adult children.
I received my real estate license in 2004 to specialize in farm, ranch, and recreational properties. Before that, I worked in the fly-fishing business, doing everything from working in a fly shop, commercial fly tying, teaching casting and tying classes, and guiding anglers. This experience taught me valuable people skills for dealing with diverse personalities and cultures.
I have interests in history, archeology, geology, entomology, paleontology, bushcraft, and boating. I’m also a passionate birder. It’s a privilege to explore the ranches we represent, and many days are made by discovering an arrowhead, fossil, unusual bird, animal, or breathtaking view.
I’m licensed in Montana but have worked on projects in many western states, Hawaii, Missouri, Canada, Belize, Mexico, and the Bahamas. No two transactions are the same, which is one of the many things I love about the ranch real estate business. Elaborate transactions are my specialty. They can be challenging but rarely boring and often result in a strong, trust-based relationship with my clients. This is one of my strengths and something I’m very proud of in my career.
