My love for the land runs deep. I’ve been fortunate enough to lease and own working and recreational ranches in some truly breathtaking places, including Colorado, Montana, and British Columbia. As an avid hunter and angler with an entrepreneurial streak, I’ve always been equally passionate about the working and recreational aspects of running a ranch.
Over the years, I’ve built a strong foundation in the ranching and recreation business. I leased several ranches in Colorado, where I offered guest ranch adventures, horseback, and sleigh excursions, ran cattle, and operated a successful guiding and outfitting business that provided pack trips and hunts. Later, I purchased a ranch in Montana, where I raised registered Corriente cattle for 17 years while commuting to British Columbia to oversee my business investments. I even built and operated a ski lodge with a restaurant in the Okanagan at Apex Mountain Resort and ran a small guest ranch as a sister business on the Trans Canada Trail with a beautiful horse facility, a heated barn and indoor arena, and cabins for lodging. I finally sold the last of my businesses in 2008, and now, of course, I miss it!
These days I have happily hung my hat in Bozeman, where I joined Swan Land Company in 2010. I have kept my outfitter license active, but I now apply all my knowledge and experience to the real estate industry, representing both buyers and sellers. I love working with people in various aspects of ranch and recreational real estate, including property sales and acquisitions, management, recreation, income, understanding ownership and expenses, proper stewardship, and, most importantly, helping clients make sense of their investments. After all, I know what it takes, as recreational programs were my bread and butter for 30 years.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my dogs, horses, and children. Two of my children attend college and high school in Montana, and my oldest son flies C-130s for the Air National Guard. I also love to travel and indulge in recreational activities.
