It’s right around the corner, The Montana Stockgrowers Annual Convention and Trade Show December 13th-14th, in Billings, Montana. If you are a cattle rancher or in the cattle industry, this is the place to be!
The Montana Stockgrowers Association became a non-profit organization geared towards helping ranching families in the year 1884. Its focus, to help Montana ranches raise safe, healthy and environmentally wholesome beef for the world, remains strong. The mission is achieved by working with the Montana Legislature, U.S. Congress and government agencies while spotlighting Montana ranchers through media outlets.
The 2017 MSGA trade show opens its doors Wednesday December 13th at 10am. The show will be featuring a wide range of exhibits touching on animal health products, seed products, farming equipment, fencing, pharmaceuticals, the latest ranching technologies, weed and pest control and much more.
After the opening session on Wednesday, the Convention gets underway with a wide variety of educational opportunities with the Cattlemen’s and Stock Growers College classes. Each class is 60 minutes long and individually sponsored by Zoetis Beef Technical Services, MT Red Angus Association, Boehringer Ingelheim, Venture West Ranches, Merck Animal Health or Ranchers Insurance. A few of the topics include surviving drought and wildfire, developing replacement heifers, adding value to feeder calves, tips for successful breeding and increasing production efficiency with reproductive management.
In official business, there are many policies set to expire as 2017 comes to a close. All Montana Stockgrower Rancher, Feeder/Stocker or Young Stockgrower members in good standing are invited to contribute to the discussions and vote during the policy meetings.
On the lighter side, before the convention starts, The Young Stockgrowers Meeting & Social takes place on Tuesday from 4-5pm. Also on Tuesday evening is the Leaders & Legends dinner from 5-8pm. This is by invitation only. On Wednesday you won’t want to miss the Environmental Stewardship Awards which will be presented from 12:30-1:30. These awards showcase Montana cattle producers who protect and enhance the natural resources while sustaining or increasing business profitability.
Plan on attending the action-packed Stockgrowers National Convention.
