The Pathfinder Ranch located Casper and Rock Springs is now part of a collection of ranches in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming owned by the Utah based Ensign Group. The ranch was listed for $79.5-million, however Swan Land Company Broker Scott Williams said he can’t reveal how much it sold for.
Ensign Group CEO Christopher Robinson told Your Wyoming Link he has also owned a ranch in Uinta County since 1995 and the Stone Ranch which neighbors Pathfinder since 2021
The sale is a big one for Swan Land Company, according to Williams it reflects the kind of complex sales the company specializes in and a new future for the ranch.
“They have that clear commitment to honoring the ranch’s cattle legacy and conservation ethic. And it’s it truly feels like a positive transition for this iconic Wyoming ranch property,” said Williams.
The ranch is bigger than Rhode Island, totaling 916,076 acres across its deeded and leased lands. The deeded lands make up around 100,000 acres.
Pathfinder Ranch will grow around 85,000 acres bigger. The Stone Ranch divides Pathfinder in half and Robinson plans to merge the properties.
“We’re going to meld the two back together, Stone ranch and the Pathfinder and run it kind of like it once was,” said Robinson.
The Ensign Group are owner operators. They are going to run the cattle ranch themselves, and they hope to be good stewards of the land while they’re at it.
