As National Ag Month proceeds through March, activities and events continue to focus on celebrating and promoting agriculture’s importance in society.
National Agriculture Month provides an opportunity to educate the public about the significance of agriculture, including its impact on the economy, the environment, and daily life. Schools, organizations, and communities may organize educational programs, workshops, and materials to inform people about farming practices, food production, and agricultural innovations.
This month emphasizes the hard work and contributions of farmers, ranchers, and all individuals involved in the agricultural sector. It acknowledges their vital role in producing food and maintaining food security.
Various initiatives during National Agriculture Month often encourage consumers to support local farms and businesses. Farmers’ markets, farm tours, and food tastings may be organized to promote local produce and emphasize the benefits of buying locally grown food.

National Agriculture Day
In honor of this year’s affair, the Agriculture Council of America (ACA) hosted several events both online and in person. The ACA is an organization composed of leaders in agriculture, food, and fiber who are dedicated to increasing public awareness of agriculture’s vital role in the U.S.
To kick off the celebration, ag enthusiasts gathered on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Whitten Patio in Washington, D.C. Featured guest speakers were U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall, as well as a student panel. Festivities continued with the Celebration of National Ag Day in the Russell Senate Office Building. Both events were live-streamed free of charge through the Ag Day Virtual Event. ACA shared real stories of American agriculture and reminded all citizens how agriculture affects everyone in some way.
Additionally, the 2025 Ag and Food Policy Summit was held in Washington, D.C. The event’s agenda spotlit panels on transforming agricultural productivity with artificial intelligence (AI), controlled environment agriculture, ag trade and tariff policies, 2025 ag and food policy insights, and other relevant information.
Montana
In Montana, agriculture is the leading industry, with over 27,000 farms and ranches across the state.
During a ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda, the governor of Montana joined Director Streit, representatives from Montana’s leading ag organizations, producers, and students, to highlight the contributions of producers and proclaim March 18, 2025, as National Agriculture Day in Montana. Director Streit emphasized the industry’s impact, saying, “Montana agriculture generates over $6 billion annually and supports thousands of jobs. As we celebrate National Agriculture Month, Week, and Day, we’re reminded of the dedication of our producers and the importance of ensuring they have the tools to succeed.”
The governor highlighted his administration’s support for Montana agriculture, including tax relief, workforce development, and infrastructure investments that benefit farmers and ranchers. To support Montana farmers and ranchers, the governor’s budget expands the business equipment tax exemption from $1 million to $3 million, eliminating the business equipment tax burden for more than 700 small businesses, farms, and ranches. This increase comes on the heels of the governor’s first-term investments that eliminated over 5,000 small businesses, farms, and ranches from the business equipment tax payroll.
Wyoming
In Wyoming, various industry groups across the state put together an article packet on agriculture for Ag Day 2025. The packet contained articles from around the industry that highlighted the importance of agriculture to the state’s economy and culture. LEARN MORE
