Snowy Range Ranch is a recreational cattle ranch bordering the Medicine Bow National Forest and located along the north, middle, and south forks of Mill Creek, just 26 miles northwest of Laramie, Wyoming. The Laramie, Wyoming area offers a diverse range of activities. The ranch elevation ranges from approximately 7,560 to 9,130 feet above sea level.
The local area experiences a semi-arid climate with moderate temperatures. The average annual precipitation in nearby Laramie is approximately 11.5 inches.
When it comes to grazing livestock, Laramie and the surrounding Laramie Plains are considered by many cattlemen to be a highly desirable area to summer yearlings due to the short hard grasses which put solid gains on cattle.
Snowy Range Ranch is very diverse with over 1,570 feet of elevation change. The ranch covers multiple land classification zones ranging from the riparian zone along the three forks of Mill Creek filled with willows and cottonwood trees, through the irrigated and sub-irrigated meadows, across large grassy plains, and up the valleys with mountain mahogany and junipers, to the steep uprising of Bunker Hill, to alpine meadows ornamented by generous groves of aspens and pines.
The Medicine Bow National Forest borders the ranch on the west side. This provides further recreational opportunities with unlimited access out the back door.
Native grassland vegetation includes western wheatgrass, blue grama, buffalo grass, Indian ricegrass, needle and thread, and other mixed grass prairie species.
The ranch currently has no utilities.
Snowy Range Ranch is well suited as a summer/fall grazing unit for approximately 450-500 head of cattle for 4.5 to 5.5 months. With a newly built set of corrals, livestock can be hauled easily by semi-truck to and from the ranch.
Many different operating scenarios could be implemented depending on the owner’s goals and interests.
No personal property shall transfer with the ranch. Two portable hunting cabins located on the ranch shall be excluded from the sale.
The ranch is home to abundant wildlife including elk, antelope, mule deer, fox, coyote, mountain lion, and bear. North, middle, and south forks of Mill Creek traverse the ranch for a total of 10.5± miles.
